Today is Saturday 13th June and the country is still in lockdown due to Covid19. I have lost loads of work down to this. On the bright side I have been performing weekly gigs from my living room to Facebook each week. Tonight I will be doing a Reggae Reggae Daz show for my regular followers who tune in week after week. Some tell me it is the highlight of their week which makes me feel so proud. You can find videos of all of my gigs on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=daz110264
or Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Dazthesinger
6th June did a Dazthesinger Lockdown Gig, we had problems with tech tonight so the gig was in three parts.
31st, Porcupine Trees should have been playing at The King Billy Rock Bar in Northampton today. It would have been Ollie our new singer/guitarists debut. Ollie is a nurse and has been really busy during all this Covid19. I raise a toast to him and all of his fellow workers, Well Done Ollie.
30th, 2B40 were booked for a Private Party tonight in Tysley, Birmingham. Cancelled because of Covid19.
24th, Reggae Reggae Daz should have been playing at The Phoenix in Corby tonight. It's so sad that I am losing so much work and cannot get to sing for my loyal followers.
23rd, Reggae Reggae Daz gig tonight at The Willows in Stevenage has been moved to July 18th due to Covid19. The Willows is a real Caribbean themed pub and one of my favourite venues so I'm glad that they haven't cancelled but moved the date to July.
Should have been away in Chepstow? All booked and paid for, Winters End Festival featuring Pendragon and Mostly Autumn. Had a room booked at a lovely house as well. Fortunately I have had a refund for the accommodation and the tickets will be valid for next year and Pendragon will be playing, PHEW.
Should have been away in Looby Loo (The Motor Home) in Plymouth to see a show that we had booked and was looking forward to. River dance Anniversary tour. We have got credit for the Campsite and a Refund on the tickets. I hate this Coronavirus.
Should have been in Portugal for a week on a Bowls Tour. Was really really looking forward to this as I love my Bowls and to do it for a week in the beautiful Portuguese sunshine would have been ideal. At least we have had a full refund so we will book something now for when the Pandemic has buggared off.
13th, Me and my Gig Buddie, Neil Smith went to Oundle tonight to see a fantastic band called Lifesigns. Fantastic Prog Band fronted by the one and only John Young. I bought two CD's.
11th, I was official photographer tonight for Lakelands Hospice Fashion Show. It was a very successful event and a lot of money was raised for the Hospice.
4th, Went to see the specialist about my Sciatica today, I have to have an operation on my back as one of my discs is nearly all the way out? This is what has been giving me all of the pain. That's what I get for lugging heavy speakers around for the last 40 years?
29th, Red Red Wine gig at St Johns Club in Sundon Park, Luton. Fantastic night with lovely people.
25th, Had a MRI Scan on my back today. I hope it's nothing too bad?
5th, Played my first gig of the year as Reggae Reggae Daz at Sundon Park Social in Luton. Fab Club, Fab People. Because I am in so much pain with my Sciatica I had to arrange for my mates Phil Conway and Ade Race to meet me outside on my arrival to unload and carry my speakers into the venue. I did most of the gig on a stool? After the show, Phil and Ade put my speakers back into the car and the Landlady and an old guy packed the rest of my kit into the car. I felt useless lol.
31st, 2B40 played at The White Hart in shefford. We got underpaid? We will not return to The White Hart!
21st, Red Red Wine performed at The Phoenix in Corby. Great night and the place was rammed and we partied hard.
14th, 2B40's annual Christmas gig at The Olton Tavern in Solihull. Cracking night, Dedicated Impossible Love to my Nephew Jack Donaghue who lost his life to Knife Crime in November. Everyone raised their glasses to him and had a huge round of applause after the song finished. Thank you Olton Tavern.
7th, I have had a provisional booking in the diary for The Jubilee Inn, Hemel hempstead but they never confirmed so a night off. Cheers.
9th, Reggae Reggae Daz played at St. Johns Club in Luton.
3rd, Played my last gig with Us & Floyd at The Diamond in Sutton In Ashfield, Mansfield. The band just isn't going in the right direction for me so I'm packing up my keyboards.
1st, 2B40 played at one of our regular Haunts, The Royal Oak in Stevenage. We also booked a room each at a local Hotel where we stayed once before. One of the best breakfasts we have ever had there.
25th to 27th, Me and my Gig Buddie Neil Smith went to London to the HRH Prog Fest at Shepard's Bush Empire. Got to see all of these bands: Gong, The Pineapple Thief, Uriah Heep, Caravan, Soft Machine, Hawklords, Captain Starfighter And The Lockheeds, Vintage Caravan, Pre-Med, Pearl Handled Revolver, Krankschaft & 4th Labrinth. Wow what a weekend. Great time had and made some new friends and discovered some great bands.
20th, Porcupine Trees played a Sunday afternoon gig at King Billy Rock Bar in Northampton. Had a great time and got my mate Michael Laws to film the gig professionally. The video is great although due to poor monitoring we did make a few mistakes, LOL. But in our defense, Porcupine Tree music isn't the easiest music to play?
12th, Got a last minute gig come in for Red Red Wine in Manchester of all places. Got my Gig Buddie Neil Smith to come along for the ride. The venue was The Little B. It took us just under three hours to get there and after setting up we got a free meal. The stage area was in a dip at the opposite side of the pub where all of the punters were? I managed to get a few up dancing but it wasn't the best of gigs for me. On the way home we stopped for coffee at a service station and encountered a band who had gone and put petrol in their van rather than diesel? They must have spent the money they earned that night on the rescue service. Poor sods.
9th, Porcupine Trees should have been playing at Pro Fusion at Kidderminster Town Hall tonight? After being led to believe that we were playing in the actual Town Hall with Full PA we found out that we were playing in a small room which is part of the Town Hall and students were doing the PA but they were not sure how much of a PA they would have? It had nightmare written all over it so we decided to pull out.
27th, took Looby Loo (The Motorhome) to Wolverly near Kidderminster for the night and went to The Queens Head pub to watch Will's (Will from 2B40) other band Tunky Pig. Their old singer, Bass player Johnny Green (An old school friend of mine) had left the band so they were doing their first gig with new man Dean. We had lovely food at the pub and a lot of my old friends turned up including Nev from RealTobacco with his wife Jules, Figgy and Julian, Jazzy Pete and his missus. Tunky Pig were awesome and they did a great version of War Pigs the Black Sabbath song. We walked back to the camp site afterwards with some more motorhomers who had been to see the band and we had a good old sing song all the way back.
20th, Us & Floyd played a great gig at The Crauford Arms in Wolverton, Milton Keynes. The venue doesn't help the band much as there was hardly any advertising of the gig by them so we never had a very big audience. Those who were there had a great time though and the band played very well.
8th, Us & Floyd played a blinder of a gig at The King Billy Rock Bar in Northampton. The venue was packed out and the band played the whole of Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish you Were Here albums.
7th, 2B40 were live at The Shire Horse in Corby. Had a great gig and the venue filled up nicely as the night went on.
